Teaching Children Compassion
Each and every person on our planet has value. At the time of their birth most people are welcomed with joy and their families hope that they will live a full life. Every person that crosses our path or the path of our children will contribute to our evolution.
One of my favorite movies is The Fisher King. In this movie, Jeff Bridges looks at a homeless person with disgust. Robin Williams challenges him by saying that this homeless person, can be Bridges most profound teacher. That he was placed on his path to teach him and all of humanity compassion.

An Attitude of Gratitude
“Hold on to the center
and make up your mind to rejoice
in this paradise called life.”
― Lao-tzu
I believe that Wayne Dyer may have been the first to coin the phrase, “An attitude of gratitude,” and so it is with great admiration and respect for him that I, too, honor this wonderful saying.

Where You Focus Your Attention Is What You Get!
Cheryl Richardson, a favorite author and fellow coach, has written a new book called Stand Up for Your Life. In this book she talks about how our society tends to “bond over stress instead of success”. I see this in action every day in my own life and in the lives of my clients.
We tend to give each other permission to complain freely- it’s actually become the way we interact with others. It’s OK to compare stresses or say something negative to a total stranger for the sake of opening a conversation and relating to each other. For example, you get in the elevator on a rainy day, “Some storm! Traffic was terrible!” We feel free to talk about what’s wrong with everything from traffic, weather, the kids, the husband/wife, work, the messy house to crowded/late flights.

The Ungiven Gift
This is one of many touching stories Rick shares with us in his book “A Large Slice of Life to Go, Please”. A great read.
Jenn
He was pencil thin and walked with a limp. A thirteen year-old boy with huge yearning eyes who was always an unlucky patient on the children’s floor of the hospital where my youngest daughter was all too often incarcerated.

Desiderata – Things to be Desired
Here is today’s inspirational quote…
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
Even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
